Meet Shadi Mawari

A Passionate Advocate for Our Community

Shadi Mawari is a grassroots advocate, community leader, and proud graduate of Dearborn Public
Schools. Born to immigrant parents, Shadi moved to Dearborn in 2007 and has called the city home ever
since. Growing up in Dearborn taught him the power of opportunity, service, and unity — values that have
guided his path ever since.

Shadi earned his Associate of Science degree from Henry Ford College, his Bachelor of Science in Public
Health from Wayne State University, and his Master of Public Health from the University of Michigan,
where he also served as the Population and Health Sciences Chair for the Public Health Student
Assembly.

Throughout his academic and professional journey, Shadi has remained committed to building healthier,
stronger communities. He has worked across healthcare administration, workforce development, and
public health, leading initiatives that expand access to care, promote economic opportunity, and improve
quality of life for others.

During his time as a Project Coordinator for Detroit’s JumpStart program, Shadi played a key role in
engaging residents back into the workforce. Through his work, Shadi helped individuals gain access to
career readiness workshops, skills training, and employment services — empowering them to build better
futures for themselves and their families.

Shadi's Vision

1.Promote Public Health and Protect Our Environment

I will champion local health initiatives, expand access to wellness resources, and work to create a
healthier, more resilient Dearborn for all, especially in historically underserved areas like the South-end. Our environment is a crucial part of our public health, and I will advocate for cleaner
air, safer neighborhoods, and sustainable growth.

  2. Address the Reckless Driving Epidemic and Improve Public Safety
Reckless driving is a public safety crisis.

I will advocate for stronger enforcement, smarter street
redesigns, and community awareness initiatives to keep our roads safe for everyone. Opioid
crisis, mental health. (Idea: undercover units posted at high risk intersections)

  3. Ensure Every Resident Has a Voice

As a proud graduate of Dearborn Public Schools, I know the strength of this community first hand. I’m committed to fair, inclusive representation across every neighborhood. Whether you live in the
West, East or South-end of Dearborn - your voice matters. I want to be more than just another
politician. I want to be someone you can rely on, call and have a conversation, or grab a cup of
coffee. I promise to work tirelessly to address the needs of all residents, no matter where they
live.

  4. Taking Care of Our Seniors

As someone currently working in healthcare administration at PACE Southeast Michigan —
where our mission is to help seniors live independently outside of nursing homes, I am committed
to supporting Dearborn’s growing elderly population. Our seniors deserve the resources,
services, and respect they need to enjoy their well-earned retirement (golden) years.

  5. Empower Our Local Economy and Small Businesses

As the first-generation son of immigrant parents, I witnessed the American Dream firsthand
through my father, who has been a lifelong small business owner. I want to ensure that Dearborn
remains a city where entrepreneurs from all backgrounds can succeed. I will advocate for more
funding, grants, and local economic initiatives that empower small businesses, foster innovation,
and keep Dearborn a vibrant hub of opportunity for all.

6. Accountability & Transparency

The campaign is rooted in a commitment to public health, safer streets, inclusive
representation, support for small businesses, and care for our growing elderly population. A new
generation of leadership — rooted in community.
